Choosing my house...

I really like this house, which is a shop-style that can be adapted to a coffee shop or even a pub. The little building to the right is an addition, not part of the pack.

There is a huge range of houses, including Georgian, Victorian and even Tudor. This one is by the "Dolls House Emporium" or "DHE" for short.

I think I will choose the shop or a Victorian or Georgian style house, furnishing it in the style to suit. Can't wait now!!

Starting this new hobby!

When I was in New York last year, we visited the Museum of the City of New York. The museum had a wonderful exhibition of childens' toys, including a magnificent display of miniature doll houses.

I spent ages looking at the houses, taking in the detail, the scale and the effort that had so obviously been taken to make them so individual and lifelike.

I remember that I loved my cousin's doll house, with its lights, many rooms and furniture, and would want to play with it every time I visited her house.

I'm going to build a 1/12 scale doll house and will chart my progress - mistakes and successes! - on this blog. Comments and advice are gratefully appreciated!
